What's a Blog?

A blog (shortened from weblog) is a web enabled application allowing one or more individuals the ability to publish data chronologically. Data usually reviews, links, photographs, documents, information on events, etc is stored in an easily accessible format available via a PC or a mobile interface.

The IRE will use the blog to publish news and information when available. (The blog will also be integrated into the new website). The advantage with the blog over a static news page is that users can easily view the current information but also easily retrieve older posts. From an administrative perspective multiple people will be able to post news items with a minimum of technical training.

What's a Forum?

A Web Forum is a web enabled application allowing for collaboration between groups of people sharing a common interest. The forum allows registered users to post questions, read and answer threads. There is also the opportunity to PM (Private Message) other members. It is intended that all forums on the IRE website will only be available to registered users unless stated otherwise.
